Escalera beach is a beautiful beach located in the surroundings of El Cotillo , reachable by travelling about 4 km of dirt road.
The real name of Playa de la Escalera is Playa de la Aguila and unlike the other beaches of Fuerteventura it is not very large.
Compared to the more famous beaches of Fuerteventura , you will hardly find this little corner of paradise in the various tourist itineraries recommended by hotels and accommodation facilities.
To appreciate the full splendor of this beach, with golden sand and turquoise water, it is best to visit when there is low tide.
At the entrance to the beach you will find a sign that warns you that access to the beach is a bit challenging.
To access this stretch of Escalera beach, in fact, there is a staircase of around 130 steps, without a handrail and in some places with very small steps.
One of the most suggestive beaches of Fuerteventura
If you are an adventure lover and want to get off the beaten track to discover the most beautiful beaches on the island, you cannot miss Playa de la Escalera.
This beach, like many others on the island, does not offer the classic tourist services, such as sunbeds, toilets, showers, umbrellas and bars.
If you are in the north, with a little organization, you can combine this visit with the beach of El Cotillo , easily in a single day.
To reach Escalera beach, in the vicinity of El Cotillo , you will not find any signs along the route and therefore it is best to use Google Maps.
Our advice is to be very careful both when entering and exiting this beach, but at the same time do not be discouraged.
This stretch of coast with unpaved paths will leave you with a beautiful memory linked to the island of Fuerteventura .
Caution is advised when accessing the beach for children and elderly people who may have difficulty tackling the dilapidated staircase, which is the only access to the beach.
How to get to Playa de la Escalera
It takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Playa de la Escalera from Puerto del Rosario .
This beach, very close to El Cotillo, is approximately 28 km from the capital of Fuerteventura .
Take the FV – 10 towards La Oliva and be careful as the last stretch is unpaved.
It is not difficult to get to this wonderful beach of Fuerteventura, as it is quite well signposted.
Once you arrive at your destination you can admire Escalera beach in all its splendor, with a spectacular view from the top of the steps.
Then carefully descend the many steps and find yourself in front of a little piece of paradise, which only Fuerteventura preserves.
