Gran Tarajal at Fuerteventura is a town that overlooks the eastern coast of the island and belongs to the municipality of Tuineje.
A port city on the southwest coast of the island meaning “Great Tamaris”.
The town takes its name from the large population of tamarisk, a tree that grows on saline, coastal soils and often mixed with palm trees.
It is a very relaxing city thanks to the gentle wind that blows and delightful for the splendid walks along the seafront.
Gran Tarajal is the third largest city in Fuerteventura in terms of population, nestled between the blue and turquoise of the ocean, the brown of the high mountains that loom in the background.

This port owes its calm waters to the protection given by the slope of the land.
From the port you can see all the streets and small roads built on the hill, a really interesting view that gives the impression that the town watches over the sea.
The Bioremediation treatment carried out in the harbour of Gran Tarajal is the largest case of hydrocarbon decontamination with biological methods carried out in all of Spain.
Next to it are showers and toilets available to all users of this 24-hour guarded port.

Beaches of Gran Tarajal
Gran Tarajal Beach
The wonderful Playa de Gran Tarajal is located on the town’s seafront, offering indescribable emotions.
A black sand beach of volcanic origin that contrasts with the wonderful turquoise color of the ocean.
It is also suitable for families with children, but is not one of the equipped beaches of Fuerteventura .
Las Playitas Beach
Playa de Las Playitas extends for approximately 700 m and is located a few km from the town.
In this area you can see the little white houses with blue decorations that nest on the mountain overlooking the ocean.
A large, horse-shaped beach of black volcanic sand and calm waters.
There is also a small pier from which you can dive, swim among the fish and go snorkeling.
This town is famous for its picturesque fishing port, where you can watch the fishermen’s boats return and buy fresh fish directly from them.
The park called Parque Félix López in this town of Fuerteventura is considered the jewel in the crown of the green areas of Gran Tarajal.
The park is known for its palm trees, which are a protected species in the Canary Islands.
Guincho Beach
This beach is located north of Gran Tarajal, in the Giniginamar area.
It is a secluded beach with astonishing natural beauty, perfect for relaxing and enjoying an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
The nightlife of Gran Tarajal
The nightlife of Gran Tarajal is concentrated on its seafront with a good selection of bars and restaurants, where you can enjoy local and international cuisine.
Walking along the entire promenade, next to the sports port, you will find numerous leisure services and typical local gastronomy.
There are also shops selling local products, souvenirs and beach items in all the streets of the center up to the paseo maritime.
In this stretch of coast of Fuerteventura , there are many of the most beautiful villages and hotels with breathtaking ocean views.
All along its waterfront there are a large number of entertainment venues, children’s playgrounds, incredible open-air sculptures.
Of course, the nightlife in Gran Tarajal cannot be compared to that of Corralejo , which is much livelier with pubs and discos.

Of course, to reach this city of Fuerteventura it is possible by bus, taxi or with a rental car.
