Esquinzo beach at Fuerteventura

Esquinzo beach is a fine sandy beach, located in the north of the island of Fuerteventura in the town of Cotillo.

As with all beaches in the North, the colors of the sea change with the tides, but Playa Esquinzo is at its best, with its various shades of turquoise that suddenly turn to emerald green.

There aren’t many signs to get to Esquinzo beach , but if you follow the coast towards Corralejo , you can’t go wrong.

Once you reach the end of the road, you will find yourself in front of a cliff overlooking the sea, with a view that will literally leave you breathless.

The beach does not offer any type of service, such as sunbeds, showers and refreshments, therefore if you want to spend a day on this beach, you must organize yourself with a packed lunch and cold drinks.

Characteristics of the beach

Many define Esquinzo beach as one of the windiest beaches in Fuerteventura , but this is not always the case, as it is possible to spend entire days on this beach without any wind.

When it is too windy, this stretch of coast is not recommended for small children and the elderly or those with mobility difficulties.

On the contrary, when there is strong wind, Playa Esquinzo is the favourite refuge of all windsurfing lovers, who reach this stretch of coast from any location in Fuerteventura.

The crystal clear waters, the fine sand with the presence of rocks and the majestic background of the ocean make Playa Esquinzo a perfect beach for relaxing, taking long walks and being in close contact with nature.

Playa Esquinzo , except for the presence of surfers, is not a destination reported in the many tourist guides of the island of Fuerteventura.

And in fact, it is a beach frequented mainly by residents, surfers and lovers of crystal clear sea and fine sand.

Even on this beach, in case of strong wind, there is the possibility of sheltering from the wind, but if you want a piece of advice, leave it all available to lovers of water sports, who were waiting for nothing else.

How to get to Playa Esquinzo?

Getting to Esquinzo beach from Puerto del Rosario is very easy.

The distance is about 26 km, which can be covered in 39 minutes, following FV – 10 direction La Oliva – El Cotillo.

You can get to this beach by taxi or with a rental car.

To reach this corner of paradise, you need to cross a stretch of dirt road, a bit challenging, which can be traveled even without using a 4×4 or off-road vehicle.
