Playa de los Canarios is located in the Jandía Natural Park and is a natural refuge between Costa Calma and Morro Jable , along the south-eastern coast of Fuerteventura.
500 metres long and 40 metres wide, this beach is located between Sotavento beach and Butihondo beach , in the municipality of Pájara.
On an island that has made the wind and the sea its signature, there is a hidden corner where nature speaks softly and time seems to stand still: Playa de los Canarios.
The wild and uncontaminated nature of Fuerteventura reigns supreme here and the path to reach it may seem arduous, but it is part of the adventure.
But when you look out over the promontory and see the golden bay nestled between the rocks, you realize that it was worth it.
Protected by rocky cliffs, Playa de Los Canarios is a little gem for those who want to experience the island in an authentic way, immersed in nature and silence.
There are no signs or convenient parking, to get there you have to leave the main road FV-2 and continue on a dirt path that leads towards the sea.
A magical place immersed in an oasis of peace and relaxation
This small bay of fine, clear sand, turquoise water and an almost unreal silence is a magical place, an oasis of well-being for body and soul.
Playa de Los Canarios is considered one of the wildest on the island, making it the ideal place for those seeking relaxation away from the crowds.
The rocky walls that surround it protect it from the force of the wind and make the atmosphere more peaceful and intimate.
Without a shadow of a doubt, like all the beaches of southern Fuerteventura , this magical beach is one that leaves an indelible mark on the heart with its breathtaking landscapes.
Its shallow waters make it perfect for families with small children, offering breathtaking views and the most beautiful beaches at Fuerteventura.
Like most beaches of Fuerteventura, Playa de Los Canarios is not an equipped beach with: bars, restaurants, sunbeds, umbrellas, showers and toilets.
For this reason, if you want to spend a day here it is essential to equip yourself with everything you need:
- Packed lunch, water, drinks and snacks for the whole day
- High coverage sunscreen
- Sunbeds, umbrellas or a beach towel
- Comfortable shoes to tackle the dirt path
- Mask and snorkel for snorkeling while admiring the wonderful seabed of Fuerteventura
An earthly paradise, where silence becomes wealth
Playa de Los Canarios is one of those places where you can lie down on the sand, close your eyes and feel only the breath of the sea.
It’s just you, the sun, the ocean, the magic of the silence that surrounds you and the wind of Fuerteventura, which gently caresses your face.
And this is what makes it special, being in close contact with nature, a true paradise for those who love to enjoy the freedom of the beaches of Fuerteventura.
Thanks to its isolated location and the total absence of infrastructure, Playa de los Canarios is very popular with naturists .
If you feel comfortable with direct contact with nature and want to experience the sea in complete freedom, here you will find the ideal place.
No judgmental looks, just great respect and love for the environment in this pristine place.
Of course, it is mandatory to observe some rules: take away your waste, do not disturb the fauna, do not light fires and do not remove sand or shells.
The future of this paradise also depends on those who visit it, let’s learn to respect every corner of the island of Fuerteventura, capable of arousing extraordinary emotions.
Playa de los Canarios is suitable for those looking for something authentic, pure, offering one of the most profound experiences of a trip to Fuerteventura.
How to get to Playa de los Canarios?
Getting to Playa de los Canarios is not difficult, but it does require a certain amount of adventurous spirit, and that’s what makes it so fascinating.
This beach is approximately 80 km from Puerto del Rosario , the capital of Fuerteventura, which can be reached in approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Follow the FV-2 towards Morro Jable, south of Fuerteventura until the exit for Barranco de Los Canarios.
Here you take a dirt road that goes down towards the sea, which is not signposted, but is clearly visible and passable with a normal car, if you proceed with caution.
Of course, if you don’t want to take any risks, it’s better to opt for a SUV or 4×4 car rental.
Once you have finished the descent by car, you park at the top of the cliff and from there a short path starts, which leads directly to Playa de Los Canarios .
It is essential to have comfortable shoes or light trekking shoes, especially on the way back, when the climb can be more tiring under the sun.
It is advisable to enter the route into Google Maps before losing coverage, as the signal in this area may be weak or absent.
