Mal Nombre beach wild and breathtaking colors

Mal Nombre is a wonderful beach located in the northern part of the island of Fuerteventura, not too far from the famous Sotavento beach.

If you are leaving from the north of the island, near Corralejo or its surroundings, you can use public transport or follow the signs Puerto del Rosario – Costa Calma – Morro Jable.

Like most beaches in Fuerteventura, Playa Mal Nombre also has a wild appearance, has convenient parking nearby and offers postcard-like emotions.

On the Mal Nombre beach , you will find the classic stone walls, very useful in case of strong winds, and a kiosk, according to many travellers, with prices that are not exactly cheap.

On this beach you will find many people who practice naturism and a large gay community.

If you don’t like the chaos on the beach and want to spend a day relaxing or with the kids, this little corner of paradise is the perfect place for you.

As is the case for most beaches in this stretch of coast, it is normal practice to practice nudism with great discretion and on the most extreme stretches of beach.

The sea is very suitable, especially for children, as the tide is not very high and thanks to the presence of small “puddles” created by the tides, fun will not be a problem.

Mal Nombre beach is not at all crowded with tourists, who prefer beaches recommended by their local guides and which give this stretch of coast a breathtaking view.

This beach made up of fine, soft sand, is not huge and can hold around 100 people, and the turquoise colours of the sea change according to the tides.

This stretch of coast, situated al Jandia Natural Park is the favorite place for those who love wild and uncontaminated nature of Fuerteventura.

Our advice is to reach Mal Nombre beach in the morning (not too late), when there are still few people and above all to organize yourself with cold drinks and a packed lunch for a snack.

Starting from Playa de Mal Nombre it is possible to take long walks, especially when the wind is not too strong dedicate a few hours to visit the centre of Morro Jable.

There you can stop for an aperitif or a dinner on the wonderful Matorral beach.

This beach has the peculiarity of hosting many small squirrels, called “ardillas”, always in constant search of peanuts and especially water.

Near Mal Nombre beach , there is only one chiringuito, which we of the editorial staff have never had the chance to try.

How to get to Playa de Mal Nombre?

Getting to Playa Mal Nombre is very easy, especially if you are staying on the Jandia Peninsula, approximately from Costa Calma to Morro Jable.

Unlike Playa de Sotavento where you will find the exit of the FV2 only if you are coming from Morro Jable , the indication for Mal Nombre beach.

Once you exit there, just follow the signs, at the second roundabout, about 50 meters away, you will find an abandoned building (old hotel or restaurant).

After passing this structure, a few meters away you will find the sign for the only restaurant on the beach and immediately below the sign for the beach.

A narrow and sometimes unpaved road will take you directly to the beach, without the possibility of making a mistake, as it is the only road you can take.

Don’t panic, even if you have a rented small car or a small car, this road is passable without any problem.

There is a large parking lot, so no stress, as at the end of the road there is still more space, often used for camper parking, and nearby there are bathrooms and showers.
