Natural places at La Oliva

Corralejo Natural Park is one of the most enchanting natural areas in the municipality of La Oliva, boasting spectacular dunes that hug the ocean.

Lobos Island, an unspoiled natural place with beautiful volcanic landscapes, unique fauna and flora, the most beautiful excursions and snorkelling .

Mirador de Vallebron , where you can explore the unspoiled nature of Fuerteventura and enjoy an enchanting view of the village of El Cotillo and the Toston Lighthouse.

La Cilla Grain Museum, one of the natural sites of the Fuerteventura Museum Network where the traditional architecture of Fuerteventura stands out.

Villaverde windmills, which date back to the 18th century, a time when cereal production was an essential activity in Fuerteventura.

Montana Sagra de Tindayaa UNESCO World Heritage Site, is considered a sacred place for the island’s aborigines and is rich in petroglyphs and rock carvings.

Toston Lighthouse, a short walk from El Cotillo which also houses the traditional Fishing Museum .

Montaña Roja is dated between 0.8 and 0.4 million years old, however, at its foot there are concentrations of very ancient eolianites.

Natural places at Puerto del Rosario 

The natural sites in Puerto del Rosario are those that best demonstrate Majorera history, culture, and tradition and its preservation.

The Majoreros have best preserved their centuries-old roots, their customs, and their love for their land.

The Ecomuseum of La Alcogida in Tefia with seven houses of different architectural types and the typical constructions of the richest families to modest buildings that recall the humble past of the Majorero peasant.

Museum of Miguel Unamuno, a museum of great importance which was the residence of the writer who arrived on the island of Fuerteventura in 1925.

 

Natural places at Betancuria

The Barranco de las Peñitas is one of the most fascinating natural places at Fuerteventura, a wonderful tale of incredible oases of palm trees and mystery. 

Following a path along the scenic riverbed, you reach the Eremita de la Peña, where there is an alabaster statue of the Virgin, protector of the island.

Betancuria Rural Park is natural and wild place in the old capital of Fuerteventura, declared a Natural Park in 1984 and reclassified as a Rural Park in 1994.

The Betancuria Massif is a natural site, declared a ZEPA (Special Environmental Protection Area), with a breathtaking and unique landscape.

The rough sea crashing against the cliffs contrasts with the calm, green waters of the pools, creating a spectacle in the natural pools of Aguas Verdes in Betancuria.

 

Natural places at Tuineje 

The natural sites in the municipality of Tuineje illustrate the daily life of Fuerteventura’s farmers in past centuries.

Windmills, museums, scenic overlooks , and volcanic soil intertwine to create enchanting landscapes.

The Tiscamanita Windmill Center , an ethnographic museum , is installed on a 19th-century mill used for the production of gofio , the staple food of the Majoreros.

La Entallada Lighthouse is located 6 km east of the village of Las Playitas and was built in 1953-1954 by engineer Carlos Alcón.

 

Natural places at Pájara 

Montaña Cardón is one of the most evocative natural sites in the municipality of Pajara, as well as one of the most impressive Natural Monuments on the island.

This Natural Monument covers an area of 1,266.8 hectares and stands out for its shape and its impressive height, one of the highest peaks on the island.

A journey into nature where silence, harmony, and boundless beauty perfectly intertwine, Oasis Park Fuerteventura is a place to have fun while respecting the environment. 

In this natural setting, there is a small plant production center and a camel farm, run by a family passionate about wildlife.

The Sicasumbre Viewpoint is one of Fuerteventura’s natural attractions that attracts the attention of every tourist.

Fuerteventura has earned the “Starlight Reserve” recognition for its perfect view of the night sky in total absence of light pollution.

Jandia Natural Park presents a wild and uncontaminated landscape, rich in natural elements of great value.

This natural and protected area includes a mountainous area of volcanic origin, white sand beaches and rocky cliffs and other smaller beaches.
