Sea cave of Garcey

How to get there ?

First you have to reach Playa de Garcey on a dirt road and park your car on the beach as there is no parking.

You can go directly along the seashore and explore beautiful rock formations, the cave is located about 1 kilometer south of Playa de Garcey beach. 

You see a small, narrow bay and following a path that descends along the cliff until you reach the deep end of the bay.

When to go? 

This is not a sea cave, so your visit will not be affected by the tides and you can really go at any time of day.

Cave of Solapa

The cave of Solapa, located in the municipality of Pájara, is the favorite place to explore the most beautiful caves of Fuerteventura , places that you will carry in your heart and mind forever.

Certainly the largest and most interesting sea caves are located about 250 meters from the beach and you can play with the reflections to take impressive photos.

There are many smaller caves along the coast, the largest one is next to the beach, only about 20-30 meters further on, perfectly round, huge and deep.

When to go?

These are sea caves so you need to aim for low tide , the ocean on the west coast tends to be quite wild at times so even low tides could be dangerous.

It depends a lot on the season and the winds, even with average waves, it is often difficult to even walk on the sand while the waves crash against the rocks.

How to get there?

To get to the cave of Playa de la Solapa, drive to the beach of the same name Playa de la Solapa.

The last few kilometers are on a dirt road but it is manageable enough even for smaller cars. 

You can park on the cliff just before the road starts to descend towards the beach, and turn left following the coast towards the south.

Afterwards the walking route where you have to overcome and sometimes step over some larger rocks that have fallen on the beach.

 

The Caves of Ajuy

The Ajuy caves, located in the municipality of Betancuria , are probably the most famous caves in Fuerteventura, the only ones with special indications and an official route to visit them.

There are two caves, one next to the other, and to see both of them is not easy at all.

The caves are very deep and were supposed to be tunnels to connect the village with the small bay where they are located, but the project was abandoned long ago.

When to go? 

This is an official tourist attraction, so there will be the usual crowds of tourists, which if you want to avoid, it’s best to go in the morning or late afternoon.

Whether in the sunlight or at sunset , these caves are always a true spectacle of colors and pure magic, impossible to miss.

How to get there?

You will have to drive to the village of Ajuy and park your car in the parking lot near the beach, where you will notice a path that goes up the cliff.

The only thing to do is follow a path for about 100 meters on foot to the caves and once you reach the caves you can go down the stairs and enter inside them.

 

Cave of los Ojos

Located at the southern tip of Fuerteventura, in the municipality of Pájara, it is impossible not to visit one of the largest sea caves in Fuerteventura, the cave of los Ojos .

When to go?

The largest sea cave will only be accessible during low tide, it may actually be full of water during high tide, so visiting is not recommended.

The small cave could be accessible at any time precisely because it is located off the shore and the water might not reach it at any time.

How to get there?

Once you reach Playa de los Ojos crossing a dirty road, you can park your car near the cliff.

Then, very carefully, you walk along a path that descends from the cliff to the beach.

The sea cave is located at the end of the beach on the left, crossing some rocks that are not at all challenging.

 

Caves of Los Estancos

These caves, located in the municipality of Puerto del Rosario are truly unique and spectacular in Fuerteventura and you will not find anything similar anywhere else on the island.

When to go? 

The ground of the cave of Los Estancos is made up of tiny pieces of very fragile volcanic pyroclastic rock, but during rain it can become very fragile.

Also, it is not a place to visit during the darkest hours, as there are large holes in the ground that go almost vertically underground. 

How to get there?

They are located on the side of the volcano and you can park your car on the side of the road that goes up the volcano and simply follow a path that leads to the caves.

As you walk and look into each opening you discover more and more caves with several openings to larger caves that you can easily enter and explore.

 

Agua Liques Cave

Agua Liques Cave is a simple but huge sea cave, located in the municipality of Pájara, near La Pared beach. 

When you reach the place there are some rocks to climb along the coast to the ocean, on the right side of the cave, of course if the waves are not too high.

When to go? 

Since it is a sea cave, it is possible to admire it at low tide, taking into account that the area is very windy and the ocean is wilder.

How to get there?

To get to this place you have to walk along the coast from La Pared or you can choose a terribly bumpy road and drive by car. 

There are two roads, long and very winding, one that runs along the ocean and the other that runs parallel to the coast but further away from the ocean.

 

Cave of Viejo Reyes

The cave of Viejo Reyes is one of the most beautiful caves in Fuerteventura located in the southern area of ​​the island in the municipality of Pàjara.

This is a simple cave on the Viejo Reyes beach with breathtaking colors and landscapes that only Fuerteventura can offer.

This is a beach cave and is not really affected by the ocean, the waves don’t reach that far so you can visit at any time of the day.

Located in the municipality of Tuineje, in Tarajalejo where the ocean waves are generally smaller in this part of the island, which makes this beach even more attractive and unique.

Cave of Jurado

The cave of Jurado is quite close to the ocean, so it might be difficult to get there during high tide, when the waves hit quite far and hard.
