Cave of Agua Liques at Fuerteventura

The cave of Agua Liques is a simple but enormous sea cave, located in the south of Fuerteventura, in the municipality of Pájara .

This wonderful cave is located near Costa Calma, one of the most beautiful towns of Fuerteventura and one of its most beautiful beaches, La Pared beach.

When you reach the place there are some rocks to climb along the coast to the ocean, on the right side of the cave, of course if the waves are not too high.

Agua Liques beach, where the cave is located, with its unique charm remains one of the best beaches on the south coast of Majorera.

Its spectacular dunes shaped by the wind stand out, making it an enchanting place to get lost in for a few hours.

The sandy soils of Playa de Agua Liques are of marine origin, dating back to the Quaternary period, giving the area a very particular appearance.

Agua Liques cave and beach have become natural film sets in several episodes of the “Star Wars ” saga.

When to go? 

Since it is a sea cave , it is possible to admire it at low tide, taking into account that the area is quite windy and the ocean is wilder.

However, the entire southern area is less exposed to the trade winds , which constantly blow on the island, than the other cities of Fuerteventura.

Given the climate of Fuerteventura, mild all year round, with sunny days and pleasant temperatures, the Agua Liques cave can be visited at any time of the year.

It should be noted that with high tides the cave becomes difficult and less dangerous to explore.

The landscape surrounding Agua Liques beach is characterized by a flat relief, which were used by the Majoreros aborigines to settle and bring their goats.

The enchanting landscape of this cave offers one of the most beautiful sunsets of Fuerteventura that leaves every visitor breathless.

How to get there?

Getting to the cave of Agua Liques is approximately 4 km from Costa Calma , following the FV-2 which can be covered in 10 minutes.

To get to this place you have to walk along the coast from Playa de La Pared or you can choose a terribly bumpy road and a 4×4 car.

There are two roads, long and very winding, one that runs along the ocean and the other that runs parallel to the coast but further away from the ocean.

To visit the Agua Liques Cave , you need to bring comfortable shoes, a hat and sunscreen for your face.

Since the cave is located in an uncontaminated place, there are no bars, restaurants or anything else around and consequently you need to bring everything you need.
