Cave of Solapa beach at Fuerteventura

The cave of Solapa beach, located in the municipality of Pájara , is the favorite place to explore one of the places that remain indelible in the heart and soul.

Certainly the largest and most interesting sea cave is located about 250 meters from the beach and you can play with the reflections to take impressive photos.

There are many smaller sea caves along the coast, the largest one is right next to the beach, only about 20-30 meters further on, perfectly round, huge and deep.

Playa de la Solapa , where the caves are located, is one of the most beautiful, wild and paradisiacal beaches on the west coast of the island of Fuerteventura.

This beach of Fuerteventura is not very frequented by tourists and is one of the most beautiful beaches of the south of the island.

It’s over 400 meters long with golden sand in some parts and black sand with small stones in others.

When to go to the cave of Playa de la Solapa?

The caves of Solapa are sea caves, so you have to admire them at low tide.

It depends a lot on the season and the winds, even with average waves, it is often difficult to even walk on the sand while the waves crash against the rocks.

Here the trade winds blow constantly you have to take maximum precautions and be very careful when bathing in the crystal clear turquoise waters of the ocean.

The ocean on the west coast tends to be quite wild at times, so even low tides can be dangerous.

At La Solapa beach, the currents that are usually very strong, as well as the presence of rocks, make bathing more difficult at certain times of the year.

How to get there?

The caves of Solapa are 48 km from Puerto del Rosario, a 53-minute drive.

Starting from Puerto del Rosario, follow the FV-20 towards Morro Jable and then continue on the FV-30 towards Playa de la Solapa.

You have to keep in mind that the last few kilometres are on a dirty road but it is manageable enough even for smaller cars.

You can park on the cliff just before the road starts to descend towards the beach, and turn left following the coast towards the south.

Afterwards the walking route where you have to overcome and sometimes step over some larger rocks that have fallen on the beach.

It is recommended to bring comfortable shoes, a hat and sunscreen.
