Cave of Garcey at Fuerteventura

The Cave of Garcey is one of the most spectacular places in Fuerteventura, located in the municipality of Pájara in the south of Fuerteventura.

The name “ bee cave” because the yellow ceiling of the cave looks like honey cells in a beehive, absolutely an unforgettable adventure.

Playa de Garcey, where the cave is located, is a beach located in a virgin environment and is considered one of the most beautiful in Fuerteventura.

This beach is almost 500 meters long and has white sand mixed with black sand and stones, one of the natural areas saved from overcrowding.

When to go? 

The cave of Garcey is not a sea cave, so the visit is not affected by the tides, so you can go at any time of the day.

It is not advisable to go in case of bad weather, strong winds and huge waves or rain, which is very unlikely given the climate at Fuerteventura.

However, bad weather could make the visit dangerous, as rocks can fall and the sand can slip.

In the vicinity of the Garcey’s cave you can visit enchanting places on the island of Fuerteventura such as:

• Betancuria Rural Park
• Puertito de Los Molinos
• Entallada Lighthouse

However, the uniqueness of this place is its unusual landscape where the rocks draw a beautiful picture, which looks like a painter’s canvas.

Added to this is the tourist attraction of seeing the remains of the “ghost” ship stranded off Garcey beach in Fuerteventura, which sank more than two decades ago.

How to get to the Garcey Cave?

The cave of garcey is approximately 52 km from Puerto del Rosario, which can be reached in about an hour.

Starting from Puerto del Rosario, follow the FV-2 towards Morro Jable and then the FV-30 towards Playa de Garcey .

Once you reach Playa de Garcey on a dirt road and park your car on the beach as there is no parking.

You can go directly along the seashore and explore beautiful rock formations, the cave is located about 1 kilometer south of the beach.

You see a small, narrow bay and following a path that descends along the cliff until you reach the deep end of the bay.

Access to this breathtaking cave is not at all comfortable, as the route is on dirty roads.

And this is precisely what has also facilitated the conservation of this territory of peace and tranquility, one of the magical natural places of Fuerteventura.
